I can only speak for myself, but i know all too well what's going on in the world and I think most liberal people do. Unspeakable horror.. only, we DO speak of it --all day, every day-- We see, and are privy to, more information than EVER BEFORE in human history!! Ever! Facebook is not the ideal place because it makes suffering into spectacle in a special way. The platform creates apathy through turn over, sadness and anger more often than a feeling of wanting to do something. Sympathy or even Empathy Slacktivism. Click Click. I've done it , you've done it, we've all done it. I won't say Facebook never brings awareness -- BUT-- it is far from the best way in the larger scope of things… the long term. Many believe ( including myself ) that it's on the way or even currently hindering society to care. It's how we process and use ALL this information that will make the largest difference. Facebook should be where action is reflected not the passive spectatorship it is basically programmed to support.
